Athar Alam is a legal professional with nearly three decades of active legal practice. He has been engaged in litigation, advisory work, and dispute resolution before the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, District Courts, and various tribunals and statutory authorities.

Professional Background
Athar Alam commenced his legal practice in 1997 in Delhi. In the initial phase of his career, the practice was carried on under the name Alam & Co., through which extensive litigation and advisory work was undertaken before the Delhi High Court, District Courts, and various statutory and quasi-judicial forums.
Over time, the scope of practice expanded to include appearances before the Supreme Court of India, Debt Recovery Tribunals, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, District Consumer Forums, and regulatory authorities including RERA, across different jurisdictions. His work is characterised by procedural discipline, detailed legal research, and responsible advocacy.
Mediation & Dispute Resolution
A significant dimension of Athar Alam’s professional work is his engagement with mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
He has been serving as a Mediator at the Saket District Court since 2012 and as a Mediator with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Authority since 2021. He is a trained mediator certified by the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India.
Over the years, he has successfully facilitated the resolution of nearly 1,300 matters, including matrimonial, civil, and commercial disputes. His mediation practice emphasises voluntary resolution, procedural fairness, and durable settlements.
Training, Seminars & Academic Engagement
Athar Alam has been consistently engaged in legal education and professional capacity-building for over two decades. Since 1999, he has organised and coordinated more than 150 seminars, symposiums, workshops, and interactive legal sessions, addressing a wide range of subjects including procedural law, dispute resolution, professional ethics, and emerging legal issues. These programs have involved participation from advocates, academicians, students, and professionals from allied disciplines.
He is actively involved in mediation training and legal awareness initiatives, with a particular focus on strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and promoting informed, constructive approaches to conflict resolution. In this capacity, he serves as a Trainer at the Dispute Resolution Forum, New Delhi, contributing to structured training programmes and practical skill development.
His professional engagement further extends to online mediation training, reflecting an adaptive approach to evolving dispute resolution practices and the use of technology in facilitating accessible and effective mediation processes.
